The inspiration for the song came while I was washing the dishes and thinking about how to bring more funky rhythms and sounds into my singing groups. The hook actually started life as ‘We all need a little funk in our lives’. 🙂
When the harmonies arrived in my head, it became clear that funk didn’t work quite so well for them, so I pondered on what else we all need in our lives and love was the obvious answer.
Please feel free to add in your own group’s suggestions for what we need in our lives into this song. It’s fun, lighthearted and joyful. I hope you enjoy singing it.
For teaching purposes, get everyone grooving to the hook – (bassline). Bring in the Sop and Alto lines. If you have confident singers bring in the tenors. They add the juicy notes to the chords and can be more challenging. Although it’s written as SATB, it sounds great in all higher voices or all lower voices, find what works for you.
