This is a 4 part, heart-opening song with a very easy catchy chorus.
The words reflect on using the elements and nature to remind us of the importance of coming home to ourselves in times of distraction, overwhelm or difficulty. To feel the blessing of our feet upon the ground.
The song has continued to grow in complexity as time has elapsed. It works well with and without accompaniment.
Less complex version: It works beautifully as a simple unison verse and chorus in harmony. For this simpler version, use the arrangement attached here as far as the chorus – Soprano 1, Alto 1, Tenor 1 and Bass 1 parts. If singing in 3 parts, with upper voices only, use the bass line up an octave instead of the tenor.
More complex version: For longer term projects, I use the entirety of the attached arrangement which has a bridge that breaks into an 8 part canon. Not every group will want to take it to that level but it’s not very difficult and is fun to try. Pay particular attention to the breath on that section and use staggered breathing so that it appears seamless.
